Apple and Orange - Episode 7

Apple and Orange by vino4d - Episode 7

"Dude, we are ready. When will you back?" God's cub asking grown kid over the phone.

We planned to visit beach and I planned to return hometown. I tried comb my long hair—curly frizzy long hair— but it was completely useless, so covered my hair with skeleton print cap as usual.

"He is not coming. They are not let him leave" God's kid said to us.

"Now, time is 3:30. He went to office at 4am in early morning. But still they're are not leaving!!" I grumbled.

"Dude it's just 3:30. Sometimes we work for early morning four o'clock to night 8'oclock" a lean guy said. He also—actually, all roommates— working at the same digital marketing company.

"They are neither let us leave nor let us live" God's cub muttered.

Only eight hours work was rule. But who's care.

We went beach and washing our legs in sea. After some time, our pants are wet from ground to thigh, scandals and slippers are weighted with mud and we walked back with that.

I was at railway station with Grown kid—he finally came. Both are held and gorging bananas like ape in hunger. Others went their home.

"Leave tomorrow.. we will go somewhere" Grown kid said again the same sentence, with mouth full of banana.

"No, already five days was gone. If I staying more than this, then my parents fried the turtles and feasted for their dinner" I said as peeling banana's yellow skin.

He nodded as swallowing the banana.

As train moving from the platform, I waved my hands to Grown kid. Today the train general compartment was not crammed. I got a seat to sit in the train. It was midnight, the train was going with trembling sound and I couldn't get sleep. So l opened my baggage and took a book and read.

Reading books at travel. Good and productive way to spend our time. But it also remembering me one incident.

In a middle of night, I was flattened at laggage-only rack in crowded—medium crowded— train. On that night also I could not get sleep. So I read a book.

As reading the book, accidentally I found two people on a opposite laggage-only rack. One was a man and another was a late teen girl, she had half of his age. He helped her to climbing up. Both are had a good conversation.

"Perhaps they're relatives" My brain said and I continued the reading.

"Where are you from?" I heard a voice, the man asked the girl.

She answered and repeated the question to him.

"Oh, they aren't relatives" I thought and observed them—they talked casually— for while, "They're just talking what's wrong with that?".

"You really had bad brain" I said to myself and turned away.

"You didn't sleep?" the man said to her.

"No, I am not feel sleepy" she said as looking her phone.

" If you feel sleepy. Just lie down here" he tapped the space next to him.

"No. You will sleep" she said.

I watching them as held the book.

He lying down and settled his body into the cramped space—already some baggages are there—that mere enough for sit. His head was touching her thigh. Then, he raised slightly and said, " just keep your head here and straighten the legs there"

"Where is the place there to sleep!' I stared him with a little bit anger.

"No you will sleep. Its okay." She said and smiled.

"I think might be she also interested " my brain said.

"Then Free show!" I thought, sliding down the book a bit and focusing them by crossing one eye.

"No, it's their privacy. Don't gawk at there" my brain  snapped. I covered my face with the book and trying to read but I couldn't.

"Yes, it's their privacy. But it's not their private place." I convinced my brain and again sliding down the book.

He talked with her as lying down. Suddenly he parked his head on her lap.

I was jerked.

She struggled and pushed away his head and getting down.

"Why just sit here"

"It's okay. You sleep well" she said with the same smile and moved to the corner of the compartment.

That smile wasn't mean "I am interested". She smiled to hiding her fear or don't exaggerating things or something else. I don't know why she did not slap or scold or warn him.

"Not a every women was the heroic brave kind." My brain said.

The smile.

I felt bad.

Later, I was looking him. He was not sleeping, attached his  gaze at her from up here. After some time, he descending and going to the corner and approaching her.

She was ignoring him with the smile.

I readied to warn him. But I hesitated.

"she was a unknown girl. If I trying to do some good, what if that will hurt her. And there is more people here. So nothing can happen worse" I thought.

But my mind was scratching to do something. And I feared what if something happens to her after she left the train—watching many news channels made your mind think(fear) like this.

"Nothing happens. She had a smartphone and the train— the superfast express train—stops only at big station. Big station always had people and cops. And she is a college girl.. she will handle the situation. So you don't overthink, f***er" my brain said.

But still something itching my mind. I took a picture of him on my phone and saved.

"Hope for good" I sighed. After few minutes, I arrived my destination—Madurai.

As remembering the incidence, I reached my hometown and home.
